Spreading Free Smiles Across The City of Taylor

Taylor Smiles in Taylor, MI will host Dentistry From The Heart, Providing first 125+ people with free dental care.

Taylor Smiles is honored to have the privilege to give back to the community, which is especially true for our annual Dentistry From the Heart event. This year, however, Taylor Smiles is very sad to announce that due to the current COVID-19 Pandemic that it will be necessary to postpone our Annual Dentistry From the Heart event. Dr. Okonkowski, along with Dr. Matthew Artley, Dr. Chris Dyki and the team of volunteers are very sad to have to make this announcement.

Dr. Okonkowski stated “Everyone involved with Dentistry From the Heart is very disappointed. However, out of concern for the health and well-being of patients and team alike, along with the uncertainty over availability of necessary PPE and not being able to insure safe social distancing, we had to make this very difficult decision. We are hoping to reschedule the event in the near future.”

This annual free dental day has become a mainstay for Taylor and Downriver area for 11 years. It has provided 1235 adults in need with over $344,000 in free dental care. Taylor Smiles is looking forward to continuing the tradition of Dentistry From the Heart when it is safe to do so.

The Impact:

In 2001, Dentistry From The Heart started with Dr. Vincent Monticciolo who wanted to give back to the community and to provide aid to the growing number of Americans without dental insurance. Dentistry From The Heart is a registered non-profit organization that provides free dental work for people in need. Since its inception, Dentistry From The Heart has grown to include over 200 annual events nationwide and has provided more than 60,000 people with an estimated $8 million in free dental care services.
